"Peeksting" - The Place of Springs or Standing Water

CURRENT ACTIVITIES
(updated October 2009)

We are still conducting and recording Oral History interviews. This project has been a great success, so we are now more excited than ever. If you lived in or knew someone who lived in Paxtang prior to 1970, and are willing to share a few memories, please contact PHS President Angela Salvadia-Zook at aszook@pa.net  These interviews usually require at least an hour of your time, but your memories will be recorded and shared forever.

We are seeking information and maps or sketches showing the layout and location of the world famous Paxtang Park. Please contact Robin Lighty at robin@lighty.net

We are seeking information regarding the PAXTANG LAND COMPANY. It existed circa 1890 until 1920 and was developed by the Forney brothers. If you have any documentation or information of any kind regarding this company, please contact a member of the Board-of-Directors.

If you have photographs of Paxtang that were taken many years ago, and are willing to share them, please contact Murv Grunden (717-561-2620). He will make copies of them and return them to you safe and unharmed. You can trust him, everbody does, and for good reason.

Special Paxtang Artifact Search and Request:

At one time, there was a wooden pipe that ran from the Paxton Church down Paxtang Avenue. This supplied water to the houses in the community. It was replaced, but sections of it were cut into 12" pieces and given to residents who lived along the Avenue at that time. We would like to obtain, borrow or photograph a piece of that old pipe. If you have one, please contact Murv Grunden (717-561-2620).
